Well-liked, and very personable owner of
Delilah's Cafe with a dark side
Mercedes started her romance with entertainment in college managing
a local New York punk band, Spit, who appeared at CBGBs and Max’s
Kansas City. In addition, she created and developed Binsky’s,
a weekly nightclub at Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) in
Manhattan that became the most popular and successful student activity
program to this day.
Mercedes later worked for many years in the music industry with such talent
as Madonna, The Ramones, The Talking Heads, and received a gold record
for her work with Kid & Play. After staying home with twins,
she returned to the entertainment world, managing Piermont Pictures Video
since 1998. She co-hosted “Ric’s Place” with Ric Pantale
on WRCR since 2003, interviewing such movie names as Jonathan Demme (Silence
of the Lambs), Sakina Jaffrey (Heroes), Didi Conn (Grease), Tom Nelson
(Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Darrel Larson (Stepmom), and Ellen
Kuras (Analyze That). In addition, she recently opened a vintage clothing
store in Piermont, NY and was chosen to lead the Piermont Merchants Association.
She was the female lead in the Monkey’s Paw, an independent
film by Ric Pantale, and also shot a pilot for a new TV program, the Serial
Channel.
She is currently working on her autobiography.
